Pampas grass as it is very commonly known is called Cortaderia selloana. A very dramatic and large grass plant with long sword shaped leaves, that are blue green in colour, and evergreen too, but much thinning of dead and damaged leaves must be done regularly. The seed heads are also very large, that can be a foot wide and three feet long. To be planted as an architectural focal point in a large garden. Much space is needed as the plant when mature will take up about 12m2, but if you have the space it is a fabulous sight.
