Deutzia gracilis rosea
gracilis rosea is a deciduous medium sized shrub that grows to 150-200cm if pruned correctly each year. Deutzia have an erect habit with ovate leaves and masses of clusters of white flowers in early summer. The plant is tough and very hardy against frosts, liking a lightly acidic soil. If the pruning is done well with attention to detail then Deutzia (like others pruned in this group) give so much back of all the flowering shrubs. The new vigorous growth that comes after pruning large older stems from the base of the plant gives a vibrant shape and very attractive form when the new vigorous growth comes.
