Hydrangea paniculata 'Great Star'
‘Great Star’ is my favourite Hydrangea paniculata, and when I first saw one, I thought it was probably the best flowering shrub I have seen. I still love it. The large sterile flowers are just so big and rich, and the smaller fertile flowers are vividly lovely.
paniculata offers many variants, most are absolutely brilliant medium sized, upright growing deciduous shrub with slightly glossy ovate leaves. Masses of large flowers, that bloom in the second half of Summer for weeks and weeks, with distinctive white or creamy white conical flower heads made up of two sizes flowers, small fertile flowers and larger sterile flowers typical of Hydrangea.
