vulgaris is the bigger form of Lilac, that try’s to grow more like a tree than a bush. It is commonly planted in gardens , as it flowers heavily with large blooms, that can not be missed. They flower in early May, the time of year when all the garden plants really start growing! Syringa vulgaris 'Amethyest’ has pale pink flowers that are very fragrant indeed.
